The Archbold Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is seeking applicants for 2020 scholarships. The Archbold Auxiliary scholarships are awarded annually to deserving students enrolled in a medical-related field of study.

The three scholarships that are available this year are the Archbold Auxiliary Scholarship, the Elizabeth Wilmot Bull Memorial Scholarship and the Jean Cory Youth Scholarship.

The Archbold Auxiliary Scholarship is awarded annually to area students seeking a career in healthcare. Students who received scholarships in 2019 are asked to reapply for consideration in 2020. New applicants and current recipients of the scholarship may pick up an application at the Archbold Memorial Hospital Information Desk. Applicants must live in Brooks, Grady, Mitchell or Thomas County and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Applications must be completed and returned by February 3, 2020.

The Elizabeth Wilmot Bull Memorial Scholarship is for applicants pursuing a health-related degree at an accredited college, university or health-related technical school in Georgia. The scholarship requires applicants to be at least a sophomore in college and have a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Each applicant must also provide an official transcript from the school they attend, two letters of reference and a personal narrative related to their occupation choice and goals. Applications for this scholarship are due February 15, 2020.

The Jean Cory Youth Scholarship is also for applicants pursuing a health-related degree at an accredited college, university or health-related technical school in Georgia. The scholarship requires applicants to be seniors in high school, have a 3.0 grade point average and have completed 50 hours of volunteer service at their local hospital. Each applicant must also provide an official transcript from the high school they attend, two letters of recommendation, an acceptance letter from their future school and a personal narrative discussing why they have chosen to pursue a degree in the medical field. Applications for this scholarship are due March 15, 2020.

“We encourage area students who want to pursue a degree in a medical-related field to apply for these scholarships,” said Janet Schmidt, chairman of the Archbold Auxiliary scholarship committee. “Along with submitting an application, applicants for these scholarships will also be interviewed by the Archbold Auxiliary Scholarship Committee.”

The Auxiliary scholarships are funded through Archbold Gift Shop sales and donations made in memory of or in honor of Auxiliary members.

“It’s an honor to be able to support area students and their college dreams through these scholarships,” said Michelle Collins, director of volunteer services at Archbold. “For more information on scholarships, please call Archbold Volunteer Services at 229.228.2742.”
